Essentially, it’s a completely safe active ingredient in our shampoo that kills the fungus that leads to dandruff. We use 2% pyrithione zinc, whereas most other shampoos use 1% pyrithione zinc, to ensure the job gets done. This makes for a more effective product and one that treats a wider severity range of dandruff.
MCT oil is one of the secret weapons against dandruff. You see, this impressive ingredient helps moisturize your scalp and prevent those pesky flakes from forming. It also contains lauric acid which has antibacterial and antifungal properties that have been shown to fight dandruff and keep the scalp healthy (not to be confused with coconut oil which has certain fatty acids that can promote the growth of the dandruff causing fungus, malassezia). So, not only will you be dandruff-free, but you'll also have luscious locks that would make even Fabio jealous.
Dandruff won't directly make your hair jump ship, but it can certainly cause scalp inflammation and hair follicle damage which contributes to hair loss. Plus, scratching that itch can lead to hair breakage and loss.

We are proudly anti-junk. No parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, or any of junk that shouldn’t have in your hair products. Nada, It’s not always what you have, but what you don’t have. We just stick to the good stuff. While we’re at it, we also don’t test on animals and are vegan.

Basically, active ingredients perform a task and can provide a solution to a specific problem. For a shampoo to be considered an "anti-dandruff", it must use an active ingredient. And in our case, we utilize the best-in-class active ingredient, FDA-approved pyrithione zinc, to eliminate the root cause of dandruff (spoiler alert: it's caused by an overabundance of the fungus, malassezia).

If you’re like us, right in the shower. But anywhere at room temperature will do.
Flakes may provide some relief to the effects of psoriasis but the formula was intended to treat dandruff. Give it a go and see if it soothes your flaking and irritation but if you still need help, consult a dermatologist.
Getting Flakes
Most orders: about 3-5 days after they ship. As soon as we put your package on the move, we'll send you the tracking info so you can stalk it all the way to your doorstep - we won't judge, we do it too.
Let us count the ways. First, it's the least expensive option. Second, you’ll never run out (if you use it correctly). Third and most importantly, you need to be consistent to be dandruff free. And lastly, we’re nice folks, we’ll let you be the first to know when we roll out new products.
Short answer: no. Long answer, we recommend you stick with it for a couple orders to figure out your cadence. You can skip, cancel, edit whenever you want.

Dandruff has many causes. It could be your habits, your environment or genetics. But at the root of all dandruff is a fungus, malassezia, that Flakes keeps at bay thanks to using 2% pyrithione zinc (twice as much when compared to the leading legacy brands).
